MIDLAND, MI - John Moolenaar was joined today in Midland by Tea Party Express’ Executive Director Taylor Budowich, National Grassroots Director Kay Rivoli and local Tea Party Activists.  The group came together for the announcement that Tea Party Express has endorsed the Moolenaar for Congress campaign.

Tea Party Express Executive Director Taylor Budowich said, “State Senator John Moolenaar has a distinguished career serving residents of Michigan’s 4th Congressional District for years. As a business leader at MITECH+ and Dow Chemical—two Michigan-based companies—John played a vital role in the development and expansion of his companies. As a community leader on the Midland City Council, and in Michigan’s State House and Senate, John Moolenaar has fought to rein in wasteful spending and reduce the tax burden for his district.”

“I want to thank the Tea Party Express for the endorsement today and for the support that the Tea Party movement is showing me,” Moolenaar said.

“I am proud of the grassroots organization the campaign has built, with strong support from conservatives across the district, including tea party activists and groups.  We may not have the most money, but we have secured conservative support with the Tea Party Express and countless individual supporters in the district."

“The Tea Party and I line up on issues critical to our country.  These include our opposition to Obamacare, Common Core, and government bailouts.  Having voted against more than $5 billion in tax increases in Michigan, I intend to cut taxes and spending at the federal level to get our debt under control. We all agree, Washington is broken and we need to send proven conservatives to fix it.  We have the momentum and together with the Tea Party we are going to win this campaign.”

Midland Tea Party activist, Chuck Tabb, had this to say about Moolenaar: "I have known John for several years and admire his character and conservative values.  If there is truth to be found in the political process, I am confident it can be found in John Moolenaar.  He is a proven conservative, having voted against over $5 billion in tax increases.  Washington is broken and John Moolenaar is the clear choice to represent our conservative values by cutting taxes and getting our nation's spending under control."

Statewide activists shared their sentiments:

As a former constituent of John Moolenaar, I have always been impressed with John's commitment to constitutional, conservative principles.  He fought for his constituents when he voted against Medicaid Expansion and he fought for the taxpayers when he voted against the Detroit bailout.  I know that John will take those same values and willingness to fight for us to Washington DC.  John has my unreserved endorsement.

"During Senator Moolenaar's tenure in Lansing, he has been on the right side of the issues that Tea Partiers care about.  He fought against the Detroit bailout, against Common Core and most importantly, against Medicaid Expansion.  John is a strong believer in limited government and he is the right voice for the 4th District.  He has my full support and endorsement."

Every candidate talks a good game. None are perfect.  I have serious reservations about anyone whose business endeavors rely heavily upon the public treasury as a method of operation, as one candidate in this race has done.  While John Moolenaar was a State Senator and State Representative he was a steadfast voice for our conservative values.  He has fought Common Core and was a crucial vote against Medicaid Expansion in Michigan.  I know that John will represent the 4th district well in DC.  He has my full support.

“We are really going to miss John Moolenaar in our district. The 4th district will be well represented by him. Senator Moolenaar has always been accessible, straight-forward, and honest, while representing his constituents in Lansing. Many who go to Lansing or DC come back to us representing the government or party to us instead of representing our interests to the government, Not John Moolenaar.”

John Moolenaar is running to succeed Congressman Dave Camp as the representative for Michigan's Fourth Congressional District.  He has been endorsed by Congressman Dave Camp, Attorney General Bill Schuette, Right to Life of Michigan, Michigan Farm Bureau, and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce.  Moolenaar has worked in the public and private sector to improve the business climate and attract jobs to Michigan.

Supported by millions of Tea Party supporters across the country, Tea Party Express has become the most aggressive and influential national Tea Party group in the political arena. They are committed to identifying and supporting conservative candidates and causes that will champion conservative values and return our country to the Constitutional principles that have made America great.
