Missaukee County Farm Bureau President Janet Molhoek presented the American Farm Bureau Federation’s (AFBF’s) Friend of Farm Bureau Award to Rep. John Moolenaar (R-MI) during the legislator’s recent visit to Dutchman Tree Farms in Manton, Michigan.
The AFBF’s Friend of Farm Bureau Award is presented once during each session of Congress in recognition of a representative’s support of Farm Bureau policy.
“Congressman Moolenaar has been a great friend of agriculture in his two years in Congress and has represented us well on the House Agriculture Committee,” Molhoek said. “He’s fought hard to improve the tax code for Michigan farmers, voting to make permanent Section 179 (depreciation) and voting to repeal the death tax. He’s stood behind biotechnology and voted with Farm Bureau on a new GMO labeling law that prevented a patchwork of differing state-level laws.”
