It was wonderful seeing so many friends in Clare last Friday at Michigan's Fourth District Roundup! After a great weekend of friends and politics, and hearing so much excitement about our incoming president and the opportunities for our country, I wanted to take a moment to update you on my week in Washington.
When you placed your trust in me to represent Michigan's Fourth Congressional District in Congress in 2014, and again last November, I made a promise that I would fight to repeal Obamacare at every turn.
While the U.S. House has done its job during the past two years by voting on multiple occasions to repeal this law, unfortunately the President failed to act and vetoed its repeal.
I have HUGE news for you! After years of fighting the Obama Administration, today I voted for legislation which will instruct different committees to draw up its plans for a process called reconciliation. This is the first step in sending a repeal of Obamacare to the desk of our new Republican President, Donald J. Trump! Since Obamacare was signed into law, I have been committed to its full repeal. Today, I was able to take a step toward reining in government intrusion into your life.
I will continue to fight for you by keeping the promises made during my campaign and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
